Scrap yarn sweater

I have a whole box full of scrap yarn and a few weeks back I decided to do something about it. Since most of the yarn I use have a similar gauge, it wasn't too hard to come up with a design that would put most of it to use.

This is the pattern I used. (It's free! Click here)

Let There Be Rain!

On a scorching hot day like today here in Toronto (hello humidex of 48 C/118 F) I'm cannot wait of a cold rain shower. So.... here's my new raincoat!

Knitted blouse from 1945

I have been knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting lately. Well, also sewing a lot. But I knit to relax and I find the process very soothing. It slows me down and gives me time to think and organize my thoughts.

Here is a jumper from 1945 I just finished.

As you can see, the original pattern (free! click here) suggests 3 colours but I found the lace pattern so interesting that I opted to only use a blue alpaca wool.

Yet another coat

The original pattern is for a house coat and didn't call for lining or interfacing, i.e. I had to draft those pattern pieces myself. I also aded fusible interlining and chose larger buttons. I used a dusty pink wool with a bright fuchsia lining and vintage plastic buttons. All in all, it was a pretty easy coat to make, especially since it's a raglan sleeve coat (no sleeves to ease in) without a collar. My only problem is that the weather here in Toronto is way to warm! I can't believe I'm saying this but if it was only 4-5 degrees cooler this coat would do the trick!

50s shirt

I recently discovered a lack of tops, skirts and blouses in my wardrobe. Well not really... but I wanted to take a break from the dress and skirt making. This thing is from a 1950s pattern and it came out pretty well. Best of all, I didn't have to alter the pattern!

Tops!

Two spring tops using the same pattern!

Pattern used.

I used a neck and armhole facing for the black floral top but decided to make
my own bias tape for the white floral version using the self fabric.

I'm also VERY close to finish a spring coat in pink wool based on this pattern:

Another pair of clovers

I made myself another pair of Clover pants from Colette Patterns
It's the fourth pair I've made with this pattern and I just love it!
